Istanbul Police Investigate Shooting Incident Involving Galatasaray Fan

Police teams from Istanbul Police Department conducted an investigation regarding the altercation yesterday at Dalyan Park in Fenerbahçe District where Galatasaray fan S.O (46) was injured with a gunshot.

It was understood that approximately 10 fans were consuming alcohol with a Galatasaray flag prominently displayed, and when one person objected to this, a scuffle broke out among individuals. During this altercation, the suspect fired 6-7 shots into the air before injuring S.O (46) with a gunshot.

After the incident, the suspect M.A (24), who fled the scene, was identified in Üsküdar through a tight area operation conducted by the teams. A search in the vehicle led to the seizure of the weapon used by the suspect.

Police officers, who checked 8 different addresses during the efforts to capture the suspect, detained the individual.

The suspect M.A will be referred to the judicial authorities after the completion of the investigation process for the offenses of “intentional injury” and “endangering public safety intentionally.”
